cure, heal, treatの使い分け

風邪を引いたり、傷を負った際、治療が必要ですよね。

今回は治療に関連する単語として、「治療する・治す・治る」に値する動詞、「cure・heal・treat」の表現の使い分けについてご紹介します。

Cure

Cureは他動詞で「を治す」を意味しますが、「（病や症状を）完全に回復させる（＝健康の状態に戻る）」といったことを意味します。

例文：

Everty doctor is working hard to cure patients with diseases.（医者は皆、患者の病気を治すために懸命に働いています。）

Looking back at the past, there was a great stride in curing cancer.（過去を振り返ると、がん治療において大きな進歩があった。）

Patients who have gone through a screening test are more likely to be cured.（スクリーニング検査を受けた患者は治癒する可能性が高いです。）

Healは自動詞及び他動詞どちらでも用いることができ、傷やケガが治っている過程や状態を表します。
Cureと異なり、完治している状態を意味しないことに注意が必要です。

例文：

The medicine helps patients heal surprisingly quickly.（その薬により患者は急速に回復することができます。）

I have not been healed from the injury I got in a traffic accident.（交通事故で負った怪我はまだ回復していません。）

The division between two political parties is so serious to the extent that it cannot be healed in short term.（その二つの政党間の亀裂は短期的には改善することができないほど深刻です。）

Treatは回復度合いに関わらず、「（病気や傷を治すために）を治療する」といった意味をもつ他動詞です。
名詞系はtreatmentで「治療」や「処置」を意味します。

例文：

My grandmother is treated for cancer disease. （私の祖母はガンの病気の治療を受けています。）

The patient needs to reamin hospitalized to treat pneumonia.（その患者は肺炎の治療をするため、引き続き入院する必要があります。）

With the existing treatment, it is hard to cure patients with Parkinson’s disease. （既存の治療方法では、パーキンソン病の患者を治すことは難しいです。）
